Love me some new baby

I love taking new born photos. In fact it is my baby gift of choice to my friends. What better gift then one that will last for generations? This cutie belongs to my friend Melissa. She looks just like her big brother in profile and a lot like him from the front view. Recently I've been inspired by some sleeping baby photos on a Flikr group I belong to and cannot wait to try them out on the next newborn shoot! There is even a new snuggly crochet baby cocoon just itching to be used. There are no patterns for these anywhere so I had to pull the dumb thing out twice after it was halfway made. It may still be a little big. Newborns are definitely the cutest sound sound asleep! As soon as I show the other newborn shoot to her mom I'll share some more newborn photos with you.

Sweet Rylee with her mama

It seems like most feet shots are the same until I start looking at them all at once. This one I'm really happy with.
Burmeister Apr09 1009

She has a very mature looking face. A lot of newborns do, becaue they have little fat and wrinkles like a mature person.
Burmeister Apr09 1013

The posing on this shot is similar to some I have been inspired by recently with sleeping babies.

New baby skin showing all the viens is sooo cool to me.
Burmeister Apr09 1049

Eye Eye captain! lol Melissa loved this onsie with the heart on it.
Burmeister Apr09 1063

Having the camera ready even when getting ready for a different shot pays off quite a bit. I was just about to move some props around standing right over the baby when Melissa stuck her hand in to sooth her. LOVE the result.

Too cute.

Grandma (great grandma to Rylee) moved in with them before Rylee came, and the whole family is loving the multi generational experience.

One year shoot

Another successful shoot with a very grumpy girl! She hadn't had enough of a nap the day of the shoot and ended up really sick when they came to get their photos less then a week later. She was probably trying to fight off the infection on shoot day.

Grandpa is a police lieutenant so we used Guy's hat with her little police outfit. Every shot in this outfit was so adorable!

The next outfit was her pretty big dress.

Have I ever mentioned how cool we think it is when people cry at our house? Well, it is really neat to see how happy and touched people are by their photo shoots. By the time we got to this shot her grandma was very teary eyed! Love it.
Jordan April09 1016

She loved playing with the blocks.
Jordan April09 1026

We took her out to the grassy field for a little free roaming.
Jordan April09 1035

I laid down on the ground and let her run by me about 5 times to get this gem! This is my favorite shot from the shoot.
Jordan April09 1042

Most everyone is loving the tutu's I made. This is where she really really was melting down, but we managed to get this shot.
Jordan April09 1047

Back outside. I loved the light here so just snapped a quick face shot in her mama's arms.
Jordan April09 1059

Too tempting, because I love cry shots. This isn't crying, of course, but close enough.
Jordan April09 1062

Jorndan's daddy is a fireman. Ah, here is my cry shot.
Jordan April09 1073

A new take on the one year cake smash photos. Her mommy brought some cupcakes.

All done. Time to get cleaned up and take that nap. Oh wait! We just gave her a ton of sugar. I was informed she was wired for quite a long time after this.

Three girls with spirit

I love trading! It is so fun to trade photography for goods and services. Usually it is for things I wouldn't let myself buy normally but would really like. I recently traded for painting my eat in kitchen & living room. They look fabulous. One of these days some photos of it will be taken and put on my blogs. If you are looking for someone to do painting for you she is fabulous. Ask me for her information.

This shoot is of Deia's oldest daughter and two of her friends. Ciara turned 13, and the shoot was part of her gift and party. Madison and Natalie showed up at their house with two suitcases each so they could consult and coordinate their wardrobe. They were all in super high spirits making them extra fun to work with.

My first idea is something I've been wanting to do for a while, but the time of day and weather wasn't really working for us so we moved onto other stuff. I have another family coming up we're going to be able to do it with though in May so I'm super excited. A couch in a field anyone?!?! Sounds like a fun time to me.

This was one of the only shots I was happy with from the first idea

This was the third photo from the shoot. Absolutely lovely. Whenever the first shots are this lovely you know the shoot is going to be an easy one. Most people need to work into a comfort in front of the camera.
Sobas April09 1003

Natalie can pull off about any outfit with her personality.
Sobas April09 1031

It's not often I use a chair as a prop, but this shot was definitely a hit.
Sobas April09 1037

It pays to be petite sometimes. We got to do some really fun things with Madison since she is so small.
Sobas April09 1041

They even got into their jammies for a few shots. Way fun. PILLOW FIGHT!

The funky mismatched outfits came next. How fun. Ciara is wearing the big girl tutu I made back in December. It works great on a teen/preteen.
Sobas April09 1056

This is one of my favorites from the day.
Sobas April09 1061

A little soft urban color on this one
Sobas April09 1062

This girl really can pull off any outfit and still look cute.
Sobas April09 1075

Simple shot with adorable results.

This one is my favorite from the day.
Sobas April09 1090

Great eyes
Sobas April09 1096

The brown and white is so great here.
Sobas April09 1099

Madison has a flare for drama, and we got a really big variety for her shots.
Sobas April09 1104

I like how contemplative and almost sad this shot looks.

Large families are cool

These guys have 8 kids in a modern world where most families may have 2. I love it. Guy is from a large family where he is the second youngest of 9. It is so cool to be in a large family. There is always someone for me to talk to and hang out with in any family gathering. There is also lots of support when someone is having a tough time.

These stairs worked great to get everyone scattered about, but together.

Ryan just returned from a mission to the Phillipines. This day was the first warm day of the year. I was soooo hot and mentioned how the first warm day always feels so much hotter then the same temperature day later in the year. He was so pleased with the cool relatively unhumid days.

This was the coolest spot with all the great roots here.

Pretty girls and umbrella's should always be photographed together.

Her hair blowing in the wind was too cute.

Another really happy baby. There have been so many happy baby shoots lately I'm getting spoiled.
Edmond Mar09 1034

I love this shot. This is probably Marie's last baby so she especially wanted to get a few shots snuggling with her baby. Having Becca in the background of one was just a bonus.
